Better On Wine is a Charleston-area, five piece Classic Rock cover band
comprised of Kim Barron on lead vocals, Greg Pallay on bass guitar and vocals, Scott Posey on lead guitar, Tom Kirkpatrick on guitar, keyboards and vocals, and Jeff Straight on drums.

Kim Barron (lead vocals)

Born and raised in New Jersey, Kim was introduced to singing as an infant by her mother, a professional opera singer. During the 80s & 90s, her love of singing led to the pursuit of musical theatre where she had the opportunity to perform at many of NJ’s semi-professional and regional theatres, as well as performing in cabaret shows and off-off-Broadway productions in NY City.

Kim relocated to South Carolina in 2021 and was fortunate enough to audition for Jeff and Scott. That chance meeting led to the formation of the Better On Wine band. Kim is having a blast performing with Better On Wine and is grateful to the guys for accepting her into their “Rock & Roll Boy’s Club!”

Greg Pallay (bass guitar and vocals)

Greg is originally from New York City where he played in numerous original, cover, and show bands. He moved to South Carolina in 2007, and played with bands such as No Exit Strategy, The Cool, and The Strumdogs.
Greg is very excited to be performing with Better On Wine and can’t wait to see you at our shows.

Scott Posey (Lead Guitar)

Born just outside of Washington DC, Scott grew up in Laurel, Maryland and played lead guitar in a hard rock band while attending the University of Maryland. After graduating, he trained thoroughbred racehorses. Scott moved to Charleston in 2019 and co-founded Better On Wine in the summer of 2021.

Tom Kirkpatrick (guitar,Keyboards and Vocals)

Tom began his professional music career in college as a guitarist and vocalist for the band Crossfire. During college he went on to play with Goldsmith (who did a short stint as Bo Diddley’s backup band and warmup band for the Tams) More recently, Tom played for a number of years with the Strumdogs. Because, initially there were three guitarists, Tom added keyboards and slide to his repertoire in order to add variety and range to the band‘s song list. Most recently, he has become a part of Better on Wine, bringing in keyboard, guitar, slide and talkbox in addition to backup vocals to the band.

Jeff Straight (drums)

Starting his journey behind the kit at the age of 15, Jeff cut his teeth in the high-octane world of 80s metal before shifting to the raw energy of punk rock and hardcore. His musical journey then led him to spend many years focusing on country music, performing with various bands in the Pittsburgh area. During this time, his reputation for reliability and versatile skill made him a sought-after musician for fill-in gigs across the scene. He has had the distinct honor of sharing the stage with icons such as Joe Diffie, Brett Eldredge, and Gary Allan.

Now, at 52, Jeff brings this professional, genre-spanning expertise to the classic rock sounds of Better On Wine. His drumming delivers the hard-hitting grooves of his metal roots, the tireless energy of punk, the nuance of country and the deep, reliable pocket of a seasoned veteran, perfect for powering a night of 70s, 80s, and 90s hits.
